Realtors money is
local
Dear Editor,
An error needs to be corrected in reference to the California
Association of Realtors’ donation to defeat Measure A. This is NOT
money from out-of-town
realtors. This is money that I and the approximately 1,800 other
realtors who live and work in Monterey County have donated over many
years. The California Association of Realtors is the trustee for our
donations. When an issue, such as Measure A, affects an area, the
local association requests to retrieve our funds from the state
association trust. Like the hundreds of other businesses,
non-profits, associations and individuals that provide the economic
engine and vital services to this county, local realtors are just
trying to do our part to ensure a positive future for everyone in
Monterey County.
The opposition can make us out to be the “boogey man.” In truth, the
realtors of Monterey County wish and work for the chance for people
of ALL levels of income to have the American dream of owning a home
in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
