More democratic?

Dear Editor,

The proponents of Measure A say their plan is more democratic because it mandates countywide elections for even minor subdivisions. In a free society, people should be able to live and work where they want. What strikes me as ironic is that LandWatch is the most powerful force in Monterey County and, to my knowledge, has never been elected to anything. LandWatch decides whether they like a policy or not, and then, in a “democratic” manner, their lawyers sue or hire paid petition gatherers who, with catchy and often misleading slogans, garner their quota of signatures, all the while degrading our elected public officials. Being elected, our supervisors are trying
to do the best job they can to balance justice and follow the constitution of the United States of America.

Don’t allow LandWatch, our self-appointed rulers, to decide our future. Vote No on measure A.
