No on Measure A
Things have changed. I no longer see acres of poppies on the west
side of our beautiful valley.. A light or two on the way home from
Salinas at night brought a comment from my father: "Someone left a
light on."
I accept changes and do not grieve.
How do we manage change? Who manages it? Measure A proposes mob
control over change. It makes about as much sense as abolishing the
U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and letting changes be
determined nationally by a voter majority.
Our Board of Supervisors is not perfect, but it is the best one we
have. We elect them to represent us and ask that they do their best
for the common good. This is the best system available to us. Don't
exchange their collective judgment for a countywide vote on matters
of growth. The board receives input from the public and its staff in
order to arrive at sound decisions.
Miss Himbert, my kindergarten teacher, taught me my A,B,C's. Now I
will teach them to you: no on A, no on B, yes on C.
