Criticism applies on
both sides
Margie Kay's unwarranted criticism of Monterey County Planning
Commissioner Nancy Isakson is just another example of the hypocrisy
of the folks at "Landwaste."
If she's searching for evidence of conflict-of-interest, she doesn't
have to look any farther than the first signature under the
Community General Plan Initiative, or Measure A, where she will no
doubt find the signature of Supervisor Dave Potter.
She may even find the signatures of Planning Commissioners Martha
Diehl and Keith VanDevere if she continued.
Shouldn't Kay apply the same standards she described in her April 22
letter to the activities of these individuals?
The public should remember that Landwaste did not give the voters a
choice. Their plan was adopted by a select group outside of any
meaningful public process.
Their strategy appears
to be to squelch the public comparison of the merits of the two
plans on the ballot by attacking the integrity of anyone who
criticizes their version of the new general plan.
It saddens me to see that treachery is replacing good faith in the
process of democracy.
