Living here Xavier Maruyama's letter to the editor May 9 asks voters to simply ask themselves the following question before they vote on Measure A: "Do
you want to preserve the reason we came to live here?"

This ignores the fact many of us were born and raised here. I can trace my family's history back to the 1850s in Monterey County. Through growth and
development, multiple generations of my family have been able to stay, create jobs and raise their families here. Can that continue? The question I
would rather you ask is: "Do you want to provide the opportunity for
your kids to live here?" If so, vote no on Measure A.
