No on Measure A
Measure A will limit agriculture's ability to improve existing
business and respond to community needs.
Agricultural businesses
need to comply with up-and-coming legislative demands that affect
Monterey County's ability to market and sell its crops and
livestock. Measure A forbids construction of any structure that may
be mandated by the federal or state governments in regard to spinach
inspection - unless it is voted on by all of Monterey County. The
Wine Corridor, omitted in Measure A, will bring more economic
stability to the Salinas Valley and capitalize on the traffic that
travels Highway 101.
Many of those travelers
are on the way to San Luis Obispo County to visit wine businesses,
buy products, eat at the restaurants and stay at the hotels. All
Monterey County gets is wear and tear on our highways.
Why would Monterey County pass up an opportunity to obtain more
business, employment and improve the economic viability of Salinas
Valley agriculture?
Measure A eliminates agricultural business and economic growth. A
strong and healthy agricultural economy does not equal more housing
in the rural areas. It does equal more tax revenue, jobs and a
stronger economy, especially in the Salinas Valley.
Vote "no" on Measure A. It's bad for business and bad for south
Monterey County.
