No on Measure A
Planning for the future growth of our county is not an easy job. The
Board of Supervisors have tried to the best of their ability to draw
up a general plan that will meet the needs of all our county's
residents.
Their plan was adopted
after many hours of public hearings and input from everyone who will
be affected by the regulations.
Measure A, on the other hand, was written by out-of-town attorneys
who have no real interest about land use in Monterey County, and it
was never subjected to a complete EIR. Its provisions are poorly
written and it limits affordable housing, hurts working farms and
doesn't provide funding for road improvements necessary to correct
the traffic issues facing our county.
Measure A proponents claim to be presenting a slow-growth plan, when
in fact our county is already one of the slowest growing counties in
the state.
Growth that is described as slower than slow, means little or no
growth at all. We have a housing crisis and Measure A will not
permit us to address that crisis. We need more homes and we need
them now.
Vote "no" on A, B; "yes" on C, D.
