Vote 'no' on Measure
A
The effort of LandWatch to characterize the Monterey County Board of
Supervisors as pawns of developers is a desperate attempt to win
passage of Measure A at any cost, regardless of the truth or
consequences. Last
week LandWatch issued a study by Taffe Public Strategies Co. with
great fanfare showing that, indeed, the supervisors had
contributions from
"developers."
Obliviously this showed that the system was corrupt and we can't
trust them to govern us. But who are those developers?
Taffe defined anybody affiliated with organizations such as banks,
insurance companies, farmers, ranchers, hotels, utilities, chain
retailers, gas stations,
landlords, planners, agricultural land owners and trade unions.
In trying to explain the study, Chris Fitz of LandWatch said they
picked all the occupations that may be against a "progressive plan"
such as Measure A.
In other words, if you are not for Measure A then you are a
"developer."
What gives LandWatch the right to mislead the public and the news
media in such a convoluted fashion?
One of the listed categories was land-use attorneys. By that
definition, the two attorneys in San Francisco who wrote Measure A
are both developers!
Don't believe the LandWatch propaganda. Vote "no" on A.
